The US Green Building Council - Los Angeles Chapter and the Southern California Gas Company will be hosting 8th Annual Municipal Green Building Conference & Expo on Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at the Energy Resource Center in Downey. Each year, this event brings together Southland municipal policy makers and implementers along with leading architects and engineers to further the development of a sustainable and energy efficient future. Breakout sessions will feature all aspects of sustainable design, construction, and operations practices for buildings and communities, including their impact on people, climate, the environment, and the economy.
Morning Keynote: Larry Eisenberg, Executive Director, Facilities Planning & Development, LACCD
Larry H. Eisenberg has served as the executive director of Facilities Planning and Development for the Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD) since 2002. In that role, he directs its $5.7 billion sustainable building and renewable energy programs and oversees its planning, facilities development, maintenance and real estate activities. By the time the construction program is complete, the district's nine campuses will feature almost 100 new buildings that exceed the U.S. Green Building Council's LEED certified standards, including nearly 50 "zero-energy" buildings. Mr. Eisenberg's renewable energy plan will ensure that the campuses will produce enough on-site power to be energy independent.
